Exploring the World of Marcel Hirscher

Nestled in Annaberg-Lungotz is the hometown of skiing legend Marcel Hirscher, a double Olympic champion. Raised here, he honed his skills at his father’s ski school. The snow-covered slopes of the Dachstein-West ski area witnessed the earliest glides of the most triumphant ski racer in World Championship history.

Joyous Commemoration of the First World Cup Victory

Annaberg-Lungotz exuberantly celebrated when Marcel Hirscher clinched his first Giant Slalom World Cup victory in Val-d’Isère, France, on December 13, 2009. Just a year later, on December 12, 2010, he triumphed in the slalom in France once again. The local hero received a hero’s welcome in his hometown, and since then, Hirscher has continued to shine on the world stage, much to the delight of his growing fan base. The Annaberg-Lungotz Tourist Association takes immense pride in their exceptional skiing talent and offers heartfelt congratulations on his achievements.

How Ski Racers Spend Their Summers

Marcel Hirscher’s passion for hiking finds its true home in the picturesque Annaberg-Lungotz, where he spent his childhood on the Stuhlum. It’s a place that continually beckons him. One extraordinary adventure was his climb to Bischofsmutz, guided by an expert. It’s possibly the most captivating peak in the Gossoukum range.

In a surprising turn of events in 2021, Marcel Hirscher ventured into a new realm. He unveiled his very own winter sports brand, “Vans Dier,” and it didn’t stop there. They’ve now crafted their own racing ski series compliant with FIS regulations. Hirscher’s return to the World Cup stage could be as much about supplying as it is about competing.
