“I am thrilled beyond words for the World Cup. I’ve been eagerly counting down the days!”

In 2019, I had the incredible opportunity to witness our national team’s triumph in the Euros. The experience left me in sheer awe, and I distinctly recall being captivated by the exceptional talents of our players. Little did I know that this event would prove to be a turning point in my own life.

At that time, I was engaged in powerchair football, but I wasn’t particularly invested in it, nor was I playing at a high level. Yet, as I watched our national heroes compete in the Euro finals, something within me shifted.

Following that unforgettable tournament, I had the privilege of joining a team, playing alongside incredible individuals like Roop. The camaraderie and the shared dreams we pursued created an unbreakable bond. Together, we celebrated victories, overcame challenges, and forged memories that will last a lifetime. Beyond the wins and losses, it was the indomitable spirit of our team and the unwavering support of our families that left an indelible mark on me.

In 2022, I became a part of England’s Talent Pathway, which led me to play my first match for the Development Team in April. Prior to that, my first game for the Senior Teamplayed for the Development Team, but being a senior international player filled me with immense pride.

Growing up with a disability, being diagnosed with Ulrich congenital muscular dystrophy at the tender age of two, and initially having the ability to walk but eventually relying on a wheelchair since the age of eight, life presented its challenges.

When you’re born with a disability and it’s diagnosed at a young age, the thing that hurts you the most is the feeling that you may never get the chance to ‘make it’ and represent your country. But I succeeded in achieving that dream!

Unfortunately, there is no cure for my condition at the moment. It’s about trying to ensure that too much stretching and such activities do not worsen my situation. Despite the odds, I continue to pursue my passion for football, demonstrating that determination and love for the game can overcome physical obstacles.

In a world that sometimes tells you it’s impossible, I stand as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. My journey is a reminder that, even in the face of adversity, one can find a way to follow their dreams, no matter how challenging the path may seem.
